Who We Are

The Sparrow Lake Alliance is a voluntary coalition
of members of twelve professions and seven different service sectors that provide services for children, along
with representatives of parents' and youth organizations.

The Sparrow Lake Alliance will be of interest to professionals working with children, and to parents, students, researchers, policy makers and others

Alliance Membership

The Sparrow Lake Alliance members include child psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, child and youth workers, early childhood educators, teachers, school administrators and trustees, physicians, nurses, lawyers and judges.

Also represented are members of four government ministries that plan and fund services for children: Children & Youth Services; Education; Health & Long-term Care; Citizenship, Culture & Recreation. » Learn More…

Goals of the Alliance

Since its inception the goals, structure, and activities
of the Sparrow Lake Alliance have been directed to ensure the conditions necessary for all Ontario children and youth have the best start possible in life.

The Alliance has invested in the belief that promoting
healthy development for all children will improve outcomes for children and youth while diminishing for many the need for specialized children's mental health, child welfare, and remedial educational services. » Learn More…Back to Top

Steering Committee

Currently the Steering Committee is co-chaired by Graham Clyne and Celia Denov. In addition to the co-chairs, committee members span the sectors of child welfare, education, youth justice, social services, and both community and hospital-based health and mental health services for children and youth.» Learn More…Back to Top

History of the Alliance

The Alliance first met in November 1989. Present were representatives of a number of professions providing services for children, and representatives of the Ministries
of Education, Health, and Community and Social Services.

Dr. Paul Steinhauer - Tribute

the immense contributions that Dr. Steinhauer made as
