  13th Annual Meeting
April 26-27, 2002
Bayview-Wildwood Resort

THEME: “Integrating Research, Policy & Practice”

This year’s Annual Meeting brought together an exciting roster of leaders in the fields of child and youth research, policy, and advocacy.

The goal of the meeting was to explore how we as service providers, decision-makers, and community members can better translate and apply cutting-edge research evidence to our work with, and for children, youth, and their families.

“The Quality of Decision-Making”
George Thomson
Executive Director, National Judicial Institute
Former Deputy Minister, Justice Canada

From various perspectives, as judge, policy-maker, senior public servant, and educator, George Thomson has observed and participated in over thirty years of legal and policy reform on behalf of children and families. In this address, he uses that experience to illustrate his belief that the primary measure of success is whether or not policy reforms enhance or diminish the quality of the always-fallible, individual decision-making of those who work with children and families at risk.
