Campaign 2000
   

Campaign 2000 WebsiteCampaign 2000 is a cross-Canada public education movement to build Canadian awareness and support for the 1989 all-party House of Commons resolution to end child poverty in Canada by the year 2000.

Campaign 2000 began in 1991 out of concern about the lack of government progress in addressing child poverty. Campaign 2000 is non-partisan in urging all Canadian elected officials to keep their promise to Canada's children. Visit site »

Canadian Social Planning Network
   

Canadian Social Planning Council ListIf you're looking for the Canadian Social Planning Network site, we came to the conclusion that it had outlived its usefulness. When it was started, few of the social planning councils had their own websites, so we posted material for them on our sub-site.

The CAFAS WebsiteThe CAFAS (Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale) website is dedicated to informing mental health professionals and families about CAFAS and how it is being used to assess the functioning of children and adolescents.

CAFAS is currently being used province wide in approximately 125 children's mental health agencies and hospitals. The site contains among other things, a bibliography of papers written on the CAFAS, key contacts, information on CAFAS software, training for the CAFAS, and also describes CAFAS and related projects. Youth Net
   

Youth Net WebsiteYouth Net is a mental health program run by youth for youth. Our goal is to involve as many people as possible between the ages of 13 and 20 from our region in the promotion of youth mental health. As well, the program helps people identify early signs of mental illness so that they can take the next step to get help.

The fact is that death by suicide is the number 2 killer of all Canadian youth. We'd all like to feel less depressed and be better able to deal with all the things that stress us out in every day life; school, drugs, parents, abuse, expectations, no jobs, friends, life on the streets, relationships. Hope for Children Foundation WebsiteThe Hope for Children Foundation is a registered not-for-profit Ontario organization. Founded in 1980 under the name of the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Metropolitan Toronto Foundation, its mandate is to provide financial support that assists the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto.

Community Action Program for Children
   

Community Action Program for Children WebsiteAt the 1990 United Nations World Summit for Children, the leaders of 71 countries made a commitment to invest in the well-being of vulnerable children. The Government of Canada responded with the Child Development Initiative (CDI). CAPC is the largest programme of this initiative.

CAPC provides long term funding to community coalitions to deliver programs that address the health and development of children (0-6 years) who are living in conditions of risk. It recognizes that communities have the ability to identify and respond to the needs of children and places a strong emphasis on partnerships and community capacity building. Visit site »

National Child Benefit
   

National Child Benefit WebsiteThe National Child Benefit (NCB) initiative is a partnership among the federal, provincial and territorial governments and First Nations that aims to help prevent and reduce the depth of child poverty, support parents as they move into the labour market and reduce overlap and duplication of government programs.

The NCB combines two key elements: monthly payments to low-income families with children, and benefits and services designed and delivered by the provinces and territories to meet the needs of families with children in each jurisdiction. Visit site »

National Children's Agenda
   

National Children's Agenda WebsiteAs agreed by the Federal/Provincial/Territorial (F/P/T)Council on Social Policy Renewal, governments have begun work to develop a National Children's Agenda. On December 12, 1997, First Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to new, cooperative approaches on child development and agreed to fast-track work on the Agenda through the F/P/T Council.
